Moxifloxacin present in Vigamox eye drops fell under the category of a broad-spectrum antibiotic that means it is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It kills bacteria by inhibiting the DNA gyrase enzyme necessary to separate bacterial DNA, thereby inhibiting cell replication.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF VIGAMOX EYE DROPS

A Vigamox eye drop is a Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride (0.5% as base) ophthalmic solution. It is used in the treatment of bacterial eye infection or conjunctivitis caused by the following microorganisms:-

  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Staphylococcus epidermidis
  • Streptococcus viridans
  • Corynebacterium species
  • Micrococcus luteus

HOW TO USE VIGAMOX EYE DROPS

Use Vigamox eye drops precisely as recommended. Wash your hands properly before using the eye drops. Do not touch the tip of the dropper as it may lead to contamination. The recommended dose of Vigamox eye drops for patients one year of age and above is one drop in the affected eye three times a day for 7 days. Place the dropper over your affected eye and instill the recommended number of eye drops. Do not blink and rub the eye. Do not rinse the dropper. Remove contact lenses before using these eye drops. If the use of this medication is stopped early, it may result in relapse of the infection.

THIS MEDICATION SHOULD BE AVOIDED IF

  • You are allergic to Moxifloxacin or any other ingredients of the eye drops.
  • You are allergic to any fluoroquinolone antibiotics like ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin.
